The sandwich superstars have arrived! Well, not yet, but they’re coming.
Katz Deli, an international sensation, will be expanding to Downtown Brooklyn next Fall. Since opening it’s Lower East Side location in 1917 at 205 Houston Street, the deli has been praised for its delicious, colossal-sized corned beef and pastrami sandwiches.
Now, the company’s first-ever expansion, 127 years later, will lead them to Dekalb Market Hall at City Point. The new market where Katz will live is a planned 60,000-square-foot indoor food hall, which will have 57 vendors— including a Trader Joe’s.
The new location will be more of an “outpost” than a full-scale restaurant, as the owner, Jake Dell, wants to provide a more convenient location for their large Brooklyn-based customers. Hopefully we won’t have to deal with the crowds that Katz is also famous for.
