Find Your Brooklyn: West Indian Day Parade

How do you usually celebrate Labor Day? Well, if this is your first time in Brooklyn for the holiday, then you should be prepared for an exciting, fun-filled day as millions of New Yorkers line up for the West Indian Day Parade on Eastern Parkway.

The Carnival celebrates its 48th anniversary this year, and the massive crowd from all over the Caribbean will be dancing and marching down the streets in colorful, festive costumes to reggae and calypso music.


The joyful expression of cultural pride, along with a variety of Caribbean food never fails to impress a first-time attendee.  So, party your way through Crown Heights as the parade is  scheduled to step off at 11 a.m. at Eastern Parkway and Schenectady Avenue, and will wrap up at Grand Army Plaza around 6 p.m.


Wear some comfy shoes, stay hydrated and hit the road!
