Film critic or not, it’s time to get out and experience the Bushwick Film Festival!
Beginning this Thursday Oct. 1, the festival will connect independent filmmakers for four days of films, workshops, industry mixers and parties in locations across Bushwick. Founded in 2007, the festival has become one of the major players of independent cinema in New York City.
The Bushwick Film Festival originally began as informal screenings on rooftops and moved to other unconventional spaces. Over the years the festival has evolved into a professional showcase for film lovers of all kinds.
This year’s program includes panels on the future of indie filmmaking, storytelling, women in film, and building a “better Bushwick.” Workshops will focus on several topics such as tackling the issues of education, economics, and health in the neighborhood.
