Get your Grub On At These Crown Heights Restaurants

The ever-changing landscape in Crown Heights along Franklin Avenue has given a rise to a slew of great local businesses. MySpace NYC’s Commercial Department has found great spaces for these businesses, and we’re proud to see the restaurants have earned great reputations for themselves in the neighborhood.

The area is perfect to bring out-of-town visitors for a little culture: you can hit up the Brooklyn Museum, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Prospect Park and both the Brooklyn Children’s Museum and the Jewish Children’s Museum. The 2/3, and 4/5 trains, as well as nine separate bus lines, will carry you in and out of Crown Heights.

As a new foodie mecca, the neighborhood boasts plenty of global cuisine for to you to fuel up for your cultural ventures. Read on for a few of the best:

Café Forte

Featuring healthy American food in a comfortable atmosphere, Café Forte’s daily menus incorporate seasonal local ingredients. From sandwiches and salads to baked goods, Café Forte is sure to please your appetite every time. Also, if you’re just looking for a place to work from, try out their super-cozy seating area where you’ll be surrounded by fun, cool art. Recent favorites include the Plymouth sandwich that reminds us of the holidays and the hot seasonal soup that’s perfect for warming you up on a cold winter day.

Bun Smith


The Korean fusion restaurant is serving up classic Korean fried chicken, steak, and tofu with shiitake mushroom buns. If you’re in a more adventurous mood, try the Freshwater Eel or the Spam & Cookie Butter bun. The easygoing hangout features dark paneling with murals of Notorious B.I.G. wearing a “Bunsmith” crown and the late Apple C.E.O Steve Jobs with chopsticks in his hand.

Banhmigos lives up to its’ name: Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) and Amigos. They promise that every sandwich, spring roll, salad and drink are made 100% with love. Favorites include Beef Short Rib Tacos, the traditional Banh Mi, and Smoked Duck Breast Rolls. Wash it all down with one of 18 flavors of Bubble Tea!

Silver Rice

Whether served over rice or rolled in it, every dish is definitely a cut above your neighborhood sushi spot. The popular “silver rice cups” have been all over local headlines as residents in the area couldn’t get enough of the Japanese dishes!  Must-try’s include their Blooming Roll, Salmon Ikura, the Coming Home Bowl and the extremely popular Spiced Kabocha soup. Although they’re only open for dinner now, the restaurant plans to introduce brunch service – we can’t wait!

Bagel Pub


The popular Park Slope bagel shop, opened up its new store in the area. Though the bistro’s focus is bagels, their menu has a huge list of other items, including coffee, smoothies, paninis, soups, wraps and 53 specialty sandwiches. Go back to basics with an ABC Burger (avocado, bacon & cheddar) or remedy your long night out with Hangover Fries smothered in gravy, mozzarella and scallions. And no matter what time of day, the LEO Breakfast Bagel (lox, eggs and onions) is a winner in our book.

Aita Trattoria

Aita Trattoria - Crown Heights, NY, United States. dinner, baby

This cozy Italian trattoria, the more casual offshoot of the popular Clinton Hill flagship, stands apart from other Italian restaurants in the neighborhood, with its excellent beer selection, friendly and attentive staff, and fresh ingredients. Enjoy traditional antipasti before diving into the homemade pasta, fresh fish or suckling pig. It’s also open for breakfast and lunch so you don’t have to wait until evening!

Cent'Anni - Brooklyn, NY, United States

Enjoy a glass (or two) of vino at this hip Italian eatery. The restaurant serves up handmade pastas slow-cooked in specialty sauces and ragus. You can build your own pasta or pick one of the gorgeous menu items, such as Tagliata Toscano, Roasted Rosemary Chicken or Squid Ink Linguini with Calamari. Save room for Panna Cotta or Tiramisu! Plus, hen the weather starts to warm up, feel free to enjoy the open backyard during their brunch hours!

El Barrio Burritos

A great spot for California-style burritos, tacos and wraps. The Mexicali restaurant has a huge selection of burritos, burrito bowls and tacos that won’t break the bank. Order a plate of mouth-watering nachos, stay on the healthy side with a grilled wrap and a smoothie, or indulge and spring for a surf & turf burrito. We also strongly recommend trying their specialty lemonades and smoothies!
