Even though New York City is the most expensive city in America, there are plenty of things to do around city that won’t break the bank. From concerts, comedy shows to art exhibits and parties, there are plenty of places to go to without paying a dime. Here is a list of things happening in New York from August 10th to August 17th:

Brooklyn Bridge Park: A Winter’s Tale
If you are a Shakespeare fan, here is something for you. New York Classical Theatre is offering free productions of A Winter’s Tale at the Brooklyn Bridge Park all week long. This classic rom-com under beneath the starts is perfect to bring a date to.

When: August 10th, August 12th-14th from 7-9pm.

Movies in the Park: Selma
This week’s movie selection is Selma. A movie about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. After the film, tunes from DJ Ming and Darius Clark Monroe’s short film “Dirt.” Enjoy a great evening of entertainment at no cost!

Summer BBQ courtesy of Babeland
Babeland welcomes you to its first annual summer bash. This sex shop will be offering beer, hot dogs and multiple free 15- minute workshops. During the workshops, new erotic trends and topics will be covered and at the end of the night, one lucky costumer will go home with $200 worth of naughty toys. The first 10 people to get there will receive some sexy surprise prices.

Perseid meteor shower
With the help of binoculars, telescopes and local astronomers, you can observe one of the most astonishing events in our solar system­- the Perseid meteor shower. Sit on the grass, bring a blanket and look up the sky and enjoy the wonders of the universe.

When: August 13th from 8-9pm


Adventure Course at Alley Pond Park
This event features outdoor adventure both high in the and down on the ground. The Urban Park Rangers put together an educational environmental recreation course throughout the city for adventurers out there. You can participate solo or in groups, everyone is welcome!

When: August 12th, 21st, and 28th from 9:30am-noon, FREE WITH REGISTRATION.
