Bushwick, we hope you’re prepared for all new aerial and burlesque shows! This time around, House of Yes will be pumping out performances seven days a week with a fully functioning restaurant and two bars. The immense space features a sound proof section that is separated by big double doors. During the day, the restaurant and bar will be open, while the opposite side will be used as a rehearsal and aerial studio. By the night, all areas are opened up to create a colossal space to eat, drink and take in the performances.
Their grand opening on New Year’s Eve allowed us to see what they’ve been working on for months, and it’s awesome! Animal heads, ceramic body parts, sparkling mosaics and vintage instruments are part of their huge DIY projects.
In the past, the space was based in East Williamsburg. Fans proved their loyalty when they launched a Kickstarter campaign last summer to raise $60,000. More than 1,000 supporters helped them raise $90,000 to make this new space even better than they hoped. It was truly a community effort – even MySpace NYC agents lent a helping hand.
In 2016, the House of Yes will be throwing massive parties, offering classes from experienced instructors, hosting movie nights, and of course, showing off their more than impressive skills on stage.
